Ep. 39: I Watched "Tall Girl 2" And This Is What I Have To Say…

tall girl 2, tall girl the movie, tall girl 2 review

Are you surprised there is a sequel to Netflix’s Tall Girl? Cue the viral TikTok sound: “Are you shocked? You’re shocked? You’re shocked??” (if you know, you know haha). Well, I can say that I am definitely shocked that there was a second one because I honestly didn’t even think the first one gained enough popularity for a SEQUEL to even be considered. But hey, you never know these days!

Was I late to this movie? Maybe a little, BUT I was two months late to watching the first movie. This time, I was only two weeks late. Maybe for the third one I’ll only be two days late. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. By the way, if you haven’t listened to my review of the first movie, you totally should because it will help this episode make loads of sense. I’ll link it HERE.

Now, before you go any further, I do want to add a quick little disclaimer that this episode DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS. So, if you haven’t watched the movie yet, and you want to, I recommend you stop here right now and watch the movie. And then come back :) This is your last chance!

Let’s get into it!

Quick recap: This movie is about a tall girl named Jodi, who undergoes a journey to loving her height. (super SUPER brief summary right?)

Tall Girl Problems

To me, I feel like this is probably the most important thing to discuss with “Tall Girl 2”. It’s the center of relatability (if this even makes any sense); it’s something that we‘re actually looking forward to. And honestly, they did such a better job than the first movie of displaying the tall girl problems.

Let’s face it, the first movie was super cringey. And part of it probably had to do with the fact that the tall girl problems were just displayed terribly. We only could grasp it through dialogue, whether it was Jodi complaining about it, or students in the hallway saying “How’s the weather up there?” Just as the saying goes, “don’t just tell me, SHOW ME!” And the first one did more of the “tell” and less of the “show”. But “Tall Girl 2” did more of the “show”, and I really appreciated it.

Like when Jodi and Dunkleman were at the food truck getting ice cream and the little dangly lights were hitting her in her face. Or when she was rehearsing for the play and she did a little spin kick move and KICKED a girl in her face. That was hilarious. I actually cackled. But I mean, stuff like that was what made this movie a little more enjoyable to watch.

But what about the plot? And is the message in “Tall Girl 2” a good message for tall women? Tune in to the full episode below to learn more!
