Are Tall Women Self-Sabotaging Their Romantic Lives? | Tall Women vs. Short Men - Who Has A Harder Time Dating?

Holiday season is here, and you know what that means: It’s officially cuffing seasonnnnn!
Or is that over already?

I don’t know. I saw a TikTok video saying that if you haven’t found a date to the pumpkin patch by now, you will probably be single for all of winter. I don’t know how much I believe that because anything is possible if you just believe and put a little action behind it.

Anyways, I’m saying all this to say that I’m doing an episode on dating. And I wasn’t planning on doing a dating episode anytime soon, but multiple people have sent me video content on tall women dating, and I figured that was a sign to do an episode on that.

So today, we’re gonna talk about dating insecurities within tall women and determine who has a harder time in the dating world: tall women or short men. Tune in for more!

Here is the short film I discuss in the episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOqgzcy2cWk

Holiday season is officially here and you know what that means. It's cuffing season! Or is that over already? I don't know. I saw this TikTok video of someone saying that if you haven't found a date to the pumpkin patch by now, you're basically going to be single for the rest of winter. I don't know if I 100% believe that because I am the type of person who's like... Anything is possible if you just believe and put a little bit of action behind it. Anyways, I'm saying all of this to say that this episode is about dating. And I wasn't planning on doing a dating episode anytime soon, but not one, not two, but three people sent me things related to tall dating. So I figured that that must be a sign. So today we are going to be talking about dating insecurities within tall women and determine who has it harder, tall women or short men. So without further ado, let's get into it. Good morning, everybody. You are currently listening to a tall girl's podcast hosted by a tall girl named India. I hope everyone who is tuning in today is doing super fantastic. Before I get into this episode, I do want to say, make sure you're following me on my socials at a tall girl's podcast on Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest so that you can stay up to date on all of the latest podcast episodes and catch a glimpse of my everyday life. Also, feel free to let me know your view and let me know how tall you are. I'm genuinely curious. Everything is going to be linked in the description. I hope everyone who is tuning in is doing well and had a happy and safe Halloween. Fun fact, I'm actually recording this on Halloween. So happy Halloween, but by the time this is up, it's going to be way past that. Also, another fun fact, I got sent a video by a follower or a listener. Anyways, this person is anonymous, named Big Fan, so shout out to Big Fan. And if you guys want me to discuss anything in particular on this podcast, you can send me an email, atgpodcast7 at gmail.com. You can comment below where you're tuning in right now. You can send me a DM at atallgirlspodcast on social media platforms. You can submit through my website atallgirlspodcast.com. There are several ways to let me know if there are any particular topics that you want me to cover. But Big Fan sent me a short film, I believe, titled Tall Girl and Short Guy Fall in Love. and asked for my thoughts on it. And I did watch it. And of course, this short film opened up with a basketball scene and the tall girlie was the main focal point of that. Very typical, but it is what it is. But in summary, there's a tall girl and a short guy, as it says in the title. And it highlights their experiences being bullied because of their height. But the main focal points are their relationships, the relationships that they're in, and this basketball tournament. Essentially, there's a basketball tournament. It's two versus two where the winners get money and press coverage. But in the middle of all of that, in terms of preparing for this tournament and finding like a partner for the tournament and so forth, it kind of shows their everyday lives slash their relationships. So the tall girls and short guys relationships separately. And the tall girl's boyfriend is, yes, shorter than her. And he's insecure about know him being shorter and it's pretty evident that he is insecure kind of being with her he makes comments about her height and other people make comments about her height and instead of him standing up for her he kind of like agrees with them and he kind of gets angry at her for people other people commenting on her height and so forth it's just it's crazy and then the short guy has a girlfriend who doesn't believe in his dream of becoming a vet and literally just disrespects him and gets pressed that that she can't wear heels around him because yes he's on the shorter side so she'll tower over him even though he literally verbally expressed to her that he doesn't care if she wears heels and low-key she spent a good amount of the short film calling this man broke even though he's in school and me being a grad student myself i understand the struggle He's literally in school. Tuition is expensive, guys, depending on where you live, of course, or what type of school you go to. But either way, tuition costs money and he's working two jobs and so forth. But in the end, the tall girl and the short guy end up connecting virtually via some live streaming project. So essentially, the short guy, he's in school. He wants to become a vet and he's doing some live streaming thing to help raise money for the animal shelter to help take care of like Well, in this short film, it's one particular pet. So it's a dog and he's raising money. So he's trying to do live streaming, but the tall girl stumbled across his live stream. And at some point they start talking like individually and so forth and end up connecting over that and finding some type of friendship, you know, and really discovering that they do have some similarities. They do have some of the same interests and that they enjoy talking to each other. And okay, spoiler, I should have said in the beginning there's going to be spoilers if you want to watch it. But in the end, they ended up pairing up for the two versus two basketball tournament. So it was the short guy and the tall girl at the basketball tournament teaming up against the tall girl's ex-boyfriend because he was a boyfriend for a good chunk of the film. But then they broke up, which I'll probably get into a little later. But it was the short guy and the tall girl versus the tall girl's ex-boyfriend and one of the ex-boyfriend's friends. And of course, you guessed it, they won the tournament. Sorry for that spoiler alert. I probably should have said that in the beginning. But I will definitely say it was fairly entertaining. It was way less cringe than Tall Girl. Especially because in Tall Girl, the bullying and the jokes and stuff, it was very, very obvious. very very obvious and very very forced in a way whereas in this short film I feel like it was definitely integrated well into like normal speech and so forth yeah there were some times where I was like oh that's that's a bit like no but for the most part it wasn't like bad like that um I think it did a pretty good job kind of highlighting a tall woman's struggles when it comes to her everyday life and her upbringing as well as even relationships with other people and Now, I'm not a short guy, so I can't speak on that, but I'm pretty sure I probably did a good job of representing that experience too. So I'm going to link that video in the description so you guys can check it out if you'd like. So I was sent that and, you know, it was, again, it kept me entertained for the 30 minutes that it played. So that was the first thing. But then after being sent that short film, like two weeks later, two different people sent me the same exact social media video. One sent me on Instagram, one sent me on TikTok. Essentially, it's the same video from Subway Takes, which is basically, it's an account where people are filming their hot takes on a subway. And the video that they sent me was a tall girlie, she's about 5'11, I believe, giving her dating hot take in terms of tall women and height differences and so forth. I'm just going to play it so you guys can understand what I'm talking about. Tall women have a harder time finding quality matches while dating than short men. 100% agree. Wait, than short men? Short men, yeah. I thought you were going to say short women. No, nobody's ever talking about short women. 100% disagree. Really? Short kings, they need help. No, no, no. They're already calling them short kings. So just by being short, you get a monarchy. That's funny and true. Tall women, she can only be like a model, a basketball player. They immediately put a tall woman to work. What if women were tall queens? Nobody says you see that tall queen. They say you see that Amazonian. That's true. Or they say, is that a man or a woman? They immediately make her masculine. Oh, no. A short man only needs money. Everything that you give a short man, you give that same thing to a tall woman. It makes her even less attainable. Wow, that's so true. Tall woman, she's beautiful, she's smart, and you give her money, there's nobody out there. And then they're like, why would I want this tall, beautiful woman? Tall, rich, beautiful woman. Exactly. What am I going to do for her? But a short king can overcome his height. All he has to do is stand on his wad of cash. How many times have you heard women say, he's short, but he has a great personality. He's nice. He's rich. He has a great job. He has a sense of humor. I've never heard a guy be like, she tall as fuck. But. Do you have a boyfriend? No, and I'm 5'11. Oh, you're going to get a lot of DMs. From a bunch of short kings. No, no, no. I think you're going to find like literally like very beautiful, tall football player, comedians, sexy bankers. I'm so happy. Doctors, lawyers. Kareem. If you had a short king sit here right now and do a bit with you, more women will slide into his DM and say, you can. Be my king. Then tall men are going to slide into my DM and say, you can. Be my queen. Those women are being creepy freaks and they just want the fetish. The men that are going to slide in your DMs are like, good high quality men. For you, I give you friend price. I have good high quality men in the DMs and they come, they slide. Now, there are many insecurities that tall women experience when it comes to dating. Like feeling like they're too tall or physically intimidating for men. Or worrying that men won't approach them because of their height. Or feeling like they have to make themselves smaller for someone to like them. And this leaves many tall women feeling discouraged in their romantic lives. But I want to offer a perspective that goes beyond everybody's entitled to or everybody has their own preferences. Because, I mean, that is a big part of it. Like, People can have a preference to date someone who is shorter or want someone who is shorter than them without being disrespectful to tall women. Just like how there are tall women who have a preference for men taller than them and don't want to be with someone who's shorter than them. Like everybody has their own preferences. Everybody's entitled to it as long as, you know, you're not being disrespectful and so forth. Um, but I kind of want to offer or say something that kind of goes beyond that because the whole preferences thing is definitely part of the picture, but it's not the whole picture. The dating struggle we talk about in the tall community has less to do with height differences and more to do with gender roles and assumptions we make about how people will perceive us. Sometimes we convince ourselves that someone won't be interested in us because of our height before they even get the chance to show us otherwise. What I'm trying to say here is that sometimes the struggle that many tall women talk about, such as even the tall women in the previous video, sometimes that struggle is self-inflicted. Like in this short film that I was describing beforehand with the tall girl, being with the guy who is, yeah, he's shorter than her, I believe, a little bit shorter than her, the ex-boyfriend. But he was just very disrespectful. He was disrespecting her and letting other people disrespect her because of her height. And she chose to stay with him. She didn't leave him until she caught him cheating on her with somebody else. It took him cheating on her, basically, for her to leave. Not him yelling at her when somebody disrespected her because, or disrespected them as a couple because she's taller than him and not, and she didn't leave when he was basically just giving her the cold shoulder at some point and making her feel insecure about her height in some ways. She didn't leave him then. It took him cheating on her for her to leave. So it's like, why did it have to get to that point? And I'm not like, saying anything bad about the short film itself it's more so just this could be representative of what happens in the real world it may have to do with the scarcity mindset and I talked about the scarcity mindset when it comes to jeans with tall women and just having to hold on to every pair of jeans for dear life because you firmly believe that a there are no other options out there or B, it's going to be extremely hard and extremely time consuming to find a good enough option. And the same could be applied when dating. It really does bring up the question how many tall women have stayed in a relationship where she's disrespected because she's tall or taller than the partner and people make comments about them as a couple and so forth. How many times has a tall woman done that? because she feels as though nobody else is going to love her or nobody else is going to find her beautiful again because of her height. Literally, that's like a valid thing that the short film brings up that isn't really widely talked about enough. Even in the short form video, the Instagram reel, TikTok or whatever that was sent with the 5'11 woman talking about how, oh, a short man is much easier for him. All he has to do is have a good personality or have money and you know women will still consider him whereas a tall woman that's not necessarily the case she could have the personality she could have the money and that can make it even harder for her to find a partner now obviously that's not like always 100% the case and we're not talking about absolutes here but that's also a valid point to bring up how many tall women are staying in relationships where their partner is making them feel insecure about their height Or making them feel insecure about their relationship or how they look and so forth. Because they feel as though nobody else will love them. Or see the beauty in them. Or see the beauty in their height. You see how I'm trying to connect those two things? And what's nice about the short film is that the short guy, he seemed relatively secure within himself. And even though there were moments where people were disrespecting him and calling him pipsqueak and so forth. He seemed... fairly secure within himself to even stand up for himself to other people and he kind of inspired the tall girl to eventually stand up for herself in the end of the short film which was very nice and it shows that you know it's important to have a partner who is secure it doesn't matter what the height difference is it's important for both people and while yes like we're all ever-changing like you know we have long lives to live and we change throughout life it really shows that you have to have some degree of security within yourself. Like you can't really go into a relationship thinking that it's going to be healthy and good and stable and so forth without doing the work on yourself. And again, we don't have to be a hundred percent finished final product, but we have to be at a point where we're not going to project our insecurities onto our partners and start making them feel insecure about themselves because we're insecure about ourselves. So I do want to say that though, it does seem like tall women have it harder when it comes to dating and Listen, I am biased to a degree, so I can see how it can be harder as a tall woman than for a shorter guy. I think that it has less to do with the whole height thing and more to do with, yeah, how we think people are going to perceive us, but also security within ourselves. Because I think that no matter the height, no matter tall, short, man, woman, it's If you are insecure about yourself, if you lack confidence, it's going to be difficult for you overall to have a healthy and stable and amazing relationship with anyone. Romantic, platonic, familial, whatever it is. So I think that it personally has less to do with height and more to do with how you view yourself, how you think other people will view you. Yeah, so what is your tall dating hot take? Let me know in the comments. or in my DMs, whichever one works for you. Let me know what you thought about this episode. Thank you for tuning in up to this point. I really appreciate it and I appreciate you. What do you think about, you know, the whole do tall women have it harder or do short men have it harder? Like, what do you think about that? Do you think either one has it harder or do you agree with me that it really depends on that person's self-esteem and confidence levels? Do you feel like there are some tall women out there who are kind of self-sabotaging and basically giving themselves the struggle or the dating struggle by staying with people, with partners who make them feel insecure about their height or taking things personally? I think that's also a big part of it, kind of taking things personally when people kind of like reject you because of your height. that because again there's a whole preferences thing but also it ties back again to the confidence and the self-esteem issues and how you feel about yourself you know how personally are you going to take that rejection and so forth or even understanding that some people are legitimately projecting their insecurities onto you so i would love to hear your thoughts on all of that comments dms emails website submissions whatever it may be and until i receive those i will catch you guys in the next one Good night and goodbye.
