But what if there was a solution?
Today, I’m chatting with Nancy Peyer, the online marketing specialist and content manager at Sumissura, which is a clothing brand where YOU get to design pieces you wear—we’re talking about measurements all the way down to the tiniest details, like monograms and buttons. Yes, buttons people. 🙌
I got to ask Nancy questions about how tall girls can create their custom-fit pieces AND how the brand is sustainable (because let’s face it, climate change is NOT A JOKE Y’ALL).
Tune in to the full episode to hear if custom clothing might just be the solution tall girls have been waiting for!

Good morning everybody. You are currently listening to a Tall Girls podcast hosted by a tall girl named India. I hope everyone who is tuning in today is doing super fantastic. We are going to be talking a little bit about fashion today and I'm sure that if you're a tall person tall woman listening to this, we all know the struggle of finding clothes that actually sit us. So that's why I'm excited to speak with today's guest on the podcast today. Joining me is Nancy. She is the online marketing specialist content manager I believe at Summi Suwa and Summi Suwa is a brand that is known for custom clothing that caters to everybody type, including us tall women, and Nancy is here to give us a little inside look at how custom fashion is changing the game for not just tall people but everyone. So, Hi, Nancy, how are you doing today? Hey? And yeah, I'm very weld. Thank you. How are you? Oh that's so good to hear. I am doing fantastic, Very excited to have you guys on the podcast today. Please please just take a second to introduce yourself to the audience. Well, thank you for having us. I'm excited to be here. Well, I'm Nancy Kaya. I'm from Zerich, Switzerland. That's where I'm based now, and I've been with Sumisura for the last almost three years. Yeah. Before I used to be in the banking sector for practically all my professional life, and I started blogging like ten years ago. I had my own livestock blog and I co authored for other Swiss blog and as a hobby the side hustle, and eventually my passion became my career. And here I am now with SISA and the marketing department, and yeah, I get to be creative and write about passion and just do things I love for a living. So and now I'm here with you chatting. Yay, that's so cool. That's so exciting to hear how your passion became your career. I think that's the ideal for everybody. True. Don't mean I'm very fortunate and like doing the thing that you love, you know. I mean I used to love working there with it before it as well, but now it's like I'm more passionate about it, you know. Yeah, Oh, that's so cool. I'm so happy for you. And getting into the questions. As a representative of Sumisura, can you tell us more about what the company does. I know I explained it a little bit earlier, but I'm sure you working there like every day for a while, I'm sure you know much much more about it. You can tell us much more about it. So can you tell us more about what Sumisura does, it's mission and the problem that it's specifically trying to solve in the fashion industry. Sure? Yeah, Well, Sovisua is a may measure clothing brand, meaning we offer personalized, customized clothing, so our customers get to design their own garment by choosing the fabric, the fits, and more personalization like down to the buttons and dread colors, and then we'll we'll tailor it to their exact measurements, so there's no one sets fits It all fits everybody, you know what I'm talking about. So it's the thing that we offer people the chance to dress their personality and offer them the possibility to to express their true self through clothing it really fits them because it's made for them. It's made to order for your specific body. And yeah, that's what we're about. That's so awesome, And I honestly love the little bit that you said that you know, one size doesn't fit all, and that's something that's very common with a lot of larger fashion companies, larger clothing companies, how their sizing is very limited, and truthfully, everybody has different body types, everybody has different portions, so trying to find stuff that's the perfect perfect fit, you can really only get there with custom clothing. So absolutely, I mean there are some brands that now offer special size collections, like Tall Teeth both size, but still everybody's different and the proportions are different, and a true perfect fit is only when it's customing exactly. And you know you did mention a little bit before about specialty sizing and then going off of that specifically with tall clothing, many tall women feel excluded at times or not even at times a lot of times, most of the time, ninety nine percent of the time by the fashion industry, whether it's struggling to find the perfect fit or feeling underrepresented. So how does Sumisura kind of challenge these stereotypes and challenge the traditional one size that's all models. So basically what I'm asking is, how do you create a more inclusive experience for tall women and others. Well by providing or giving the opportunity to wear something that is really tailored for you, specifically made to order. You get to wear something that truly fits you, so you don't have to settle for what's available in stores to get to dress yourself. But you can't choose what you want to wear by simply designing your own clothes and to be sure that you get something that really fits you afterwards. And yeah, we are only available online, so there are no physical stores, but we offered the perfect fits guarantee, So this means well, let me tell you maybe something about the measurement process. Sure, go ahead. I think it's very very interesting the things we have. The side estimator, so with some minimal information like heights, weights, age, and your body shape, our algorithm estimates your size with data that we've been feeding for the last sixteen years. So it's pretty accurate. But you can, if you want, verify and follow our guide and the mask mask blands take your measurements and then you have like a body profile saved for future orders. So you do this process once and then it's saved and then yeah, we've written it's not produced, it's hand preftice, so every garment is hand prefted and for the raritation that it should not fit perfectly, we offer the perfect fit Guarantee. This means that small alterations cover by us, meaning we have a large worldwide network of tailors where you can bring your garments and then you don't have to pay anything because it's covered from us. And if you don't have a partner near you, you can go to any local tailor and then send your voice and you get refunded, so you don't have to pay for altivations at any kind. And if that's not possible and we need to remake the garment for whatever reason, it's also covered in the perfect Fit guarantee, so you'll end up no matter how, with the perfect garment that fits you perfect. But that's the perfect guarantee and that's how we ensured that everybody gets to enjoy their custom garmenting. That's honestly so cool, that's something wow. I think that that really just goes to show that a you guys actually take your mission and what you do very very seriously, but also be like you guys are basically experts. Like you said, I believe sixteen years of information that you've been getting and that's how you're able to like do the size estimator thing. Yeah, so that really, that's honestly very good to know. And also because I think another topic that could be cool to touch on, because this is okay, I'll explain a little bit of context. So I've been seeing recently, specifically in the tall women community. Because I'm not gonna lie, some of us do have a shopping problem, okay, but it's not like it's not like normal shopping problem, like, oh, there's so many options out there, just can't decide. It's more of a little bit in the scarcity mindset in a way that's like, oh, we see this tall piece of clothing, we may never see it again, we need to buy it, and then we just keep buying and buying and buying. But because of online retailers and the whole one size, it's all situation going on. Proportions are different, lengths are different, sizes are different with every company, and that leads to people returning, repurchasing, returning, which I'm sure you know is not great for the environment. So there's this trend that a lot of tall women are trying to be not only more intentional with their purchases, but also just buying less in general and investing in stuff that they know is going to last of a long time. And I wanted to ask, like, do you guys see yourselves kind of fitting into that where yes, we purchase clothes that fit our length, also trying to decrease the amount of waste that we're producing because of our shopping habits. Yeah. Absolutely, because our way of producing clothes is sustainable because it's made to order, so we don't have any stocks of clothing and all sides, you know, range of all sides. So since it's made for each customer to order, we believe this is a very sustainable way of doing fashion. For providing fashion and the quality, I mean, we aim to offer quality that lasts for years to come. And our styles are timebas you know, I mean, we design you you. We have fabrics starts that are seasonal like trends, but we have also ever green backwards that are available like always. But so we tried to go with fabric wise, but still the garment or quill dequartments to be with you years to come. The equality reassures. That, Yeah, that's honestly very good to hear, especially with the I don't know if you know this, but because I live in New York City, there's a timer in like the Union Square area. But anyways, there's this timer that shows how much time we have left before we have serious problems on planet Earth if we continue the way we are in terms of like the emissions, the pollution and everything and waste involving the present environment. So I just think that having something like this is amazing. Bite frankly, well. It's a contribution to topic, but it's something I mean, you have to start with yourself, right exactly. You have to be function but we as a brand, I think we have a responsibility to to be sustainable and to offer sustainable solutions. Yeah, that's so awesome. Now, ordering custom pieces online can feel risky, especially with tall women. Just ordering anything online can feel risky, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the process. So I just want to ask, like, what does the customer journey look like in terms of the process of start to finish, so that you know, we understand like what I mean, I already didn't myself, which I'll explain in another episode, but what can you just talk a little bit more about what the process looks like because you're talking about the made to measure system and so forth. What does the process look like for let's say a tall woman who is trying to find the perfect fit with Sumisura. Okay, so we have we all offer different garments like from suits to shirts, to coats to jeans and choose even so, we have a three T designer for each garmant and there you can't customize like your own gardments. You choose. For example, let's talk jeans. I think all of us have jeans at home. So you design, you choose the fit. If it's a boyfriend cause it's a flared white legs, slim skinny, you choose the fit, the style, and then you choose the fabric, the washing, the details. And then with our three D designer, you see the changes immediately, so you can adjust it to your liking, and you can add monograms, you can choose the length. I mean, there are so many options that you can really design it's to your liking. And for some fabrics be even offered fabric samples. So if you're not sure if you know the suits or the shirt really matches some other some other cloth, you know, you just want to have a feeling for the fabric because some people really like love to touch the fabric before brining stuff. They can order fabric samples and then decide on which fabric they want it they wanted so let get the end. So this is a help that we offer as well. And then once you designed your outfit, there's like this measurement process that I explained earlier, which you just have to undertake one and then they're good to receive. The order along the lines of you know, getting the perfect fit and so forth. How do you think that to me, Sura can ultimately help tall women feel more confident in the closes their way. Well, I think we all know that feeling that when you wear something that you really feel comfortable and it's like, you know, you're like and I think that's that's what the power of fashion is that something that feels like a second skin can enhance your confidence, It can make you feel good and about yourself. And I think that already gives a lot of that helps a lot, you know, because when you wear something that it's not perfectly fitting, like the sleeves are too short, or like you're wearing a dress that looks like a mini but it was never intended to be wrong, you know, like you could, you could feel uncomfortable, and I think with the clothes that really are made for you and show your best features, it can really feel more confident, you know, and walk tall and be like who you are exactly. Yeah. I really like that part too, with highlight your best features, because there are some things that we'd like to highlight, some things that we don't necessarily want to highlight. So I honestly really liked that part. Thank you so. Much for speaking more about the brand and essentially how it can help all women not only you know, feel good in their own skin, feel good in the clothing that they're wearing, but also play a part in helping out in the environment because we love sustainability out here. And that does bring us to our last question. What is one piece of advice that I don't know we are? Is it way to ask are you a tall girl? No, I'm like exactly the Swiss average size, like exactly. But but if I may have this information, I used to be posized for many, many years and so I lost a lot of weight, so I kind of know what it's like to not find the clothes that you want to wear, you know, and spects when we don't have Well, now I'm a little bit older than you with online shopping and so we have more possibilities. But I mean, being a young adult, I was not represented at all with my fashion. You know, I had to settle for what was available to make most out of it, and so I know the struggle. Yeah, you definitely understand. Well, what is one piece of advice that you would want to get to the tall girls who are listening, who are struggling with their self esteem because of their unique features or even because they they're having a hard time. I'm finding clothes that don't really sit down. Well, see it as your superpower. I mean you stand out literally, I mean it's like and it walked off. Wear heels. Embrace your height. You know, I think that sounds like a fortune cookie advice, but I think it's but it's true. You know, if you feel comfortable, you radiated from with them, and don't care if other people perceive something else as beautiful, because it's important that you appreciate who you are and the rest will follow. And if they don't, I mean, it's their lot. So just just embrace your hearts. I think that's very that's a beautiful thing. Oh my gosh, thank you so much for that. I really, I really do appreciate that. This is an amazing episode to record with you, and after hearing everything talking about the brand and so fourth and it helps with inclusivity.
