Trying to find clothes as a tall woman is already a struggle, mainly because it's hard to find options, especially in store, options that fit our long limbs. So what do we do? We take our search to the Internet. Social media and Internet forums have become a place where communities can gather and share ideas. So when tall women are in need of recommendations and advice, they tend to hit places like Reddit, Instagram, and of course TikTok. I mean scrolling through TikTok. You can find some hidden gems there, especially with a TikTok shop feature. However, there's some fishy stuff going on with TikTok shop, like clothes being advertised as tall girl friendly, but the creator who's actually in the video talking about the clothing is not tall. And that's what we're going to talk about today. We're going to discuss one of the bigger and newer scams in the tall girl fashion world and how the rise of social media, especially TikTok, is making the situation worse. So, without further ado, let's get into it. Good morning, everybody. You are currently listening to a tall Girls podcast hosted by a tall girl named India. I hope everyone who's tuning in today is doing super fantastic. Before I get into this episode, I do want to say, make sure you're following me on my socials at a Tall Girls podcast on Instagram, TikTok in pictures so that you can stay up to date on all of the latest podcast episodes can catch a glimpse of my everyday life. Also, feel free to leave me review and let me know how tall you are. I'm genuinely curious. I also have a monthly newsletter, make sure you subscribe to that. Everything is going to be linked in the description. I hope everyone who is tuning in right now is doing super fantastic. As I literally said like three seconds ago, but I stumbled upon a TikTok video as I usually do when I'm doom scrolling that reminded me of an episode that I did a while ago. It was basically that episode was basically talking about how tall fast fashion is a scam, not only about how the quality of fast fashion isn't like the greatest, but also how there are pieces that are marketed as tall girl friendly, tall friendly, whatever it may be, but it actually isn't tall friendly, or there are people who aren't actually tall who are more average height or even short, talking about how certain pieces are tall friendly just because it's a little bit longer for them. And part of the episode did talk about TikTok and TikTok Shop and how some women are on this app talking about how products, the products that they're wearing, the products that they're promoting, the products are trying to sell is tall girl friendly, but they're not really on the taller side. Anyways, I'm gonna play the video here. I might go into cardiac arrest if I see one more video of a TikTok Shop girlye saying these are tall go approve jeans. Then I go into the comments. They say how tall you girl? They say five to seven. They're not talking I approved? Then are they They're not talk I approved. I cannot be hype fished one more time. It's getting ridiculous. I'm ordering these jeans that are apparently tall. They are ankle swingers. Will literally have me ankles out. I'm six, but one I've got thirty inch insame that's tall girl, that's tall five and seven regular. And looking through the comments, it seems like a lot of the tall girlies agree with her. One of them said, OMG, I hate this. Another said there's one I see saying tall friendly and the enn seam is thirty one inches. That's not tall friendly at all. And then another person said, literally, I'm a thirty six inch leg. Don't gaslight me into thinking I can buy a pair of pants and then tell me you're five to seven. So it's pretty evident that the tall girlies are tired of being deceived, being rage baited by these tall girlfriendly recommendation videos, specifically the ones where the creator says at the end that they're like five to seven, or the pants have an en SAM of thirty one, thirty two, thirty three inches. That's why I said in that previous episode that I did about tall fast fashion and being a scam and so forth. That's why I said in that episode that the term tall girl friendly is kind of losing its meaning because so many people are using it, and so many people are using it incorrectly. Just because a sleeve or a pant like is a little bit longer than usual or dragging on the ground for somebody, especially someone who's like five five five six five seven, that doesn't necessarily mean that that item is actually tall girl friendly, It's just slightly longer because it seems like a lot of people forget that height is a spectrum. I don't know what they're necessarily thinking when they think of a tall woman, but it seems like some people forget that there are a tall women who are like six three six four, six' five all the way up to like six eight six.'. Nine yeah in my, personal opinion it really just seems like they are so focused on the shorter side, of tall so these tall girl friendly recommendation videos can be a. Bit misleading let's listen. To this i'm coming directly from a TikTok shop ad where the girl was trying to sell pants for. Tall girls she said she could never find pants that. Are long enough, for her and so you should buye these pants shoes five. To eight it has to. Be. Reached pete. No that i'm tired of short women reviewing clothes on a TikTok shop and then saying tall. Girl friendly. How the hell would? You know WHY do i keep seeing ads for clothing and the model is? Five two HOW do i get that out of? My Algorithm and i'm not the tallest girl in. The World but i'm five NINE and i saw a girl with this cute two piece set and the pants, were like, you know leggings, or whatever or, yoga pants and they skim them. The floor she's talking about some tall. Girl friendly, Hey babes if those pants don't fold, up twice your body lift is not tall. Girl friendly they're gonna hit. My kneecaps don't speak on you don't. Know about don't? Do it HOW do i? Do that they're out of tall. GIRL reviews i don't ever see. Those things like this can be very frustrating if the tall girly, isn't careful if the tall girly is not seeking out, extra information if the creator in that Tall girl friendly recommendation video is not offering, that information and they could be deceived or scammed into buying a clothing item that isn't necessarily going, to fit that isn't necessarily going to fit. Their length i'm actually curious to know there are any tall women out there who purchased a long sleeve or a pair of pants because it was advertised as tall girl friendly on, social media only to actually find out that it wasn't. TALL girlfriendly i honestly feel like that would be. So, annoying now why is? THIS happening i definitely feel like there are two main reasons. For THIS as i, said earlier height is, a spectrum tall is. A, Spectrum whatever it's a, large range relatively, large range at least. To me it's not like it's just one particular height or one particular. Average, height however there are a lot of complaints that the SEVEN five a gurlies are among the group of people who are promoting products as tall girl friendly clothing products is tall? Girl? Friendly now there's a lot of debate on whether or not five to seven and five eight are considered tall for. A woman no matter where you fall on, That debate i'm sure we can all agree that that's on the shorter end and that there are women out there who are, six three Six, Four NO but i also, get, It okay they the five seven to five eight gurlies can also have. Long legs they can also have, long arms they have long limbs whatever it, may be long torso and. So forth and it really does depend a lot on proportions as well. As height but it could also be true that a six to three girly can have longer limbs than a five, Eight gurly so when we use a term that, includes both, let's say just as, an example five eight women as well as six, three women that's when it could get kind of murky because, It's, like okay you're saying it's tall girl friendly and you're, five Eight but i'm. Six three. I'm tall is it really tall girl friendly? For me or is it only tall girl friendly? For you so that kind of sunds up reason. Number one it's kind of hard to it's kind of hard for people to agree on what's considered tall for, A woman like that's just been an. Ongoing thing everybody has their opinions and, you know thoughts. On that, So yeah now for reason, number two TikTok shop is a. MONEY grab i said it. Flat out let's get into. That part so TikTok shop is essentially when he's growing through TikTok and somebody's promoting a product and there's like this little orange icon towards the bottom of the screen where you can click on that and basically look at the product that they're promoting and. Purchase it and when somebody purchases, THAT item i think it like also depends because there are business owners who are on, TikTok shop but also there are people who are just promoting products but they don't necessarily own the business or own the product. Or whatever but, either way the person in the video promoting the product get some type of money. From it and the thing is, with that especially when people are looking to, you know grow their platforms and make a full time income off, of it they need people to purchase these products, from them and so what do, they do especially if there's their main source. Of income they will literally do anything to get people to buy. This product so they, will lie they, will lie they will say pretty much anything to get anybody to buy. This product because think about it. This way this was like what one or two, YEARS ago i don't remember where it just like came out that a lot of people were buying TikTok shop products and not necessarily just, clothing items but just like, different items, home items whatever it, may be and talking about how the quality was so bad it. Was, horrible yeah because people got on camera lied about the quality of, the product saying oh it's this and that and whatever it, may be only to get some cheap product that just didn't. Work properly And while i'm not, saying that, you know the clothing item that's being promoted as tell friendly is necessarily, bad quality it's also like that's kind of what it, ties into just lying about like the feature of the, actual product and in, this case lying about the fact that it's actually. Tall friendly, it's like do they know what. They're doing do they know that they're lying? About it do they know that they're just saying it so that tall people can, buy it or do they genuinely believe that it's. Tall, friendly honestly we'll, never know but in my, PERSONAL opinion i feel like some people are definitely just saying stuff just to get people to buy, this product and hopefully the person that purchases, the product, you know doesn't find anything wrong with it and doesn't, return it and hopefully doesn't leave any, bad reviews and they can keep their commission or whatever they earned off of, that video because the more products, they sell the more commission that, they get and the more money, they get and they can use that to pay for whatever they. NEED to i mean not to say that everybody is, doing that because there are actual like Folks Like Tall girl clothing brands and actual like five eleven six one six two women actually talking about products that are actually tall, girl friendly and they list, in seams they, list measurements they talk about, their height, their. Proportions everything but there's also that group of people that's like talking about how it's. Tall friendly then at the end of the video, they're, Like oh i'm five, to seven or as the earlier girly tall girly was complaining in the first TikTok CLIP that, i played they just don't mention their height at all and just say it's tall friendly because it's dragging on the ground, for them. You know so all, in all if you're a tall girly watching these tall girl friendly recommendation videos and you want to, buy clothing products, AND stuff i would, just say don't. Trust it if they're not listing, their height their measurements, in seams are anything of, that sort don't just look at it, and, say oh it's dragging on the ground, for her so it must be tall. Girl friendly because there are ways to edit yourself, in videos and people can edit themselves to. Be taller people can edit themselves a, certain way but it's also kind of hard to determine how tall a person is from, a video especially depending on how they angle their phone or. Their camera you can look at her, and, think oh she looks like she's five ten, five eleven that's, my height but in reality she could actually be like five six five. To seven, AND honestly i think we should focus more on proportions and measurements rather than, just height because two women can be six to two and one can have like a thirty five inch, in scene but the other one can have a thirty eight inch. In seam but because of their proportions and how they're set and, so forth they're, both tall and they're both the, same height but one has longer legs than. THE other i just personally think that extra measurements can help people make informed decisions when it comes to their. Clothing, purchases additionally you're definitely gonna want to look at. The. Reviews again that can also be hard because there are a lot of companies that have like bots as reviews and, saying oh, It's great oh it's this to the people will be more likely to buy. Their products so don't necessarily just rely on the reviews that's on the actual side or the actual place that you're purchasing their. Product from go Check, out reddit what are people saying? About it check out other, TikTok videos what are people saying? About it, instagram videos YouTube videos like what are other people saying? About it off of that, Particular platform, but overall as, tall women we heavily rely on, Social media we heavily rely On the internet on forums to get, our recommendations to get advice from other, tall women other, tall people, and, asking hey WHERE can i find pants that are long enough? For me WHERE can i find dresses and long sleeved shirts that are long enough to kind of save us from, that frustration but also help us save money, and time, because yeah you can purchase a product and, return it but now with these new return policies where you have to pay for returns and, so forth you know you're still losing my in, the end like you're not getting your full refund at, this point and on top, of that it can feel it can be a little. Bit TRAUMATIC am i reaching with? THAT term i personally don't, think so because it's like when you go through this constant cycle, of oh thinking that a product is like, tall friendly and it really isn't and being disappointed and returning it and just doing it over and over and. Over again it can, Be exhausting it can, be frustrating but it can also just make you feel, like dang like there really isn't anything out there. For me it could just be a very disappointing process and lead to other bad habits related to shopping for things that are longer for us or that fit our, long limbs and that could also add to the dislike of. OUR height i don't want to say hatred towards. Our height that's such a, strong word, but yeah the whole shopping process can literally add to the dislike of. Our height and social media, internet forums TikTok shop even are great resources where tall women can find actual tall. Friendly stuff it just sucks that there are also lots of opportunities for us to be scanned and deceived. By it scanned and deceived by, it because as the first, lady said we're being. High fished they're leaving out, this information the information about their high about. Their measurements are they even telling? The TRUTH sometimes i personally think that people purposely do it, on purpose they purposely leave out this information or may even lie to get you to buy. The product it's just sad that they will say and do anything to get. Your money either that or again they just think that, you know tall is like, five seven, five eight five nine and not inclusive of six three, sixty four you KNOW what. I mean so y'all stay safe. Out there THAT'S what i have to say about. The situation but that brings us to the end of. This episode thank you so much for. TUNING in i really, appreciate IT and i appreciate you. Of course, as always feel free to hit me up on my socials and let me know me thought about. This episode hit me up At A tall gross podcast this. Link below have you ever been Scammed by?
