It’s pretty normal for us to walk into a store and see a petite clothing section, a regular size clothing section, even a plus size section, but we’re like, where’s the tall section?? So that leads us to take our search online. Half the time major brands lie about selling tall clothing. They literally just slap an extra inch of fabric and call it tall without considering our proportions. Or if you’re anything like me, sometimes you find true tall clothing to be a little too tall :///
Lol it’s like we can’t win.
Or can we??
Today, I’m partnering with Sumissura to see if it’s the solution to our tall girl problems. Sumissura is a custom clothing brand that uses a made-to-measure system to create garments that are unique to your body. They use several years of algorithm training to calculate measurements based on your height, weight, age, and body type.
I went through the whole entire process from designing my garments down to the smallest details like the buttons to getting the clothes delivered to me and trying them on.

One of the biggest struggles tall women will ever face is finding clothes that fit properly. I mean, it's pretty normal for us to walk into a store and see a petite clothing section, a regular sized clothing section, even a plus size section, but we're like, hello, where's the tall section? So if the in person model isn't working, then we take our endeavors or our search online to find that many major brands sell quote unquote tall clothing, but they're basically slapping an extra inch of fabric on without considering the rest of our proportions, making the fit very awkward. Or we may find clothes that are indeed long enough, but they may be boring, drab, and lacking personality. Or if you're anything like me, tall clothing may sometimes be a little too tall for you. Overall, shopping to find the perfect fit as a tall woman is a real struggle, leading us to ask is there a solution to this problem? Well, we're about to find out today. Good morning, everybody. You are currently listening to a tall girls podcast hosted by a tall girl named India to help everyone who is tuning in today is doing super fantastic. Before I get into this episode, I do want to say, make sure you're following me on my socials at a Tall Girls podcast on Instagram, TikTok, and pinture so that you could stay up to date on all of the latest podcast episodes and catch a glimpse of my everyday life. Also, feel free to leave me your review and let me know how tall you are. I'm genuinely curious. I also have a monthly newsletter, make sure you subscribe to that. Everything is going to be linked in the description. Today, I am partnering with Sumi Sira for a product review video. While this brand is made for any and every woman, no matter their height, no matter their body type, no matter their proportions, this may honestly be a great solution for tall women because honestly, tall women are fed up with the clothing struggles. Okay, the length isn't lengthening, the coverage is 'encoveraging, the proportions aren't proportioned. I don't know, but today we're gonna find a solution to these struggles, and hopefully with the help of Sumisura. So let's get into it. When it comes to being a tall woman and having these shopping struggles, as I mentioned, before with the proportions and not finding the correct fit and not having enough length or even having too much length at times, it's kind of like, maybe it just makes more sense to make clothing, to make garments that are actually unique to our bodies, that are unique to our height, that are unique to our body types, because honestly, that will probably stay so much hassle, so much stress in the long run. Sumisuurra is a custom clothing brand that uses a made to measure system to create clothing unique to your body. And not only that, you also basically get to design your garments so the fit, the fabric, all the way down to small details like the button. And it seems like custom clothing has I wouldn't say always been a trend for tall women, but it's definitely something that tall women, some tall women have definitely tried before. I did want to pull over on Instagram and this is a great time to plug in my Instagram follow me at a Toll Girls podcast so you can participate in these polls and have your opinions heard on these episodes. But I did ask you guys in a poll over on Instagram, would you consider or have you ever considered trying custom clothing. Sixty three percent of you guys said oh yes in a heart beat, thirty five percent cent need more convincing, and two percent said no need. Okay, to the two percent who said no need, I'm jealous. I'm jealous of you for real, for real. But anyways, it's also pretty interesting because some of you guys actually sent me dms like, Hey, custom clothing is the way to go, and there's nothing like something that's tailored for you for your body, tailored to your body. And I'm just like, period, that's the truth. And we're gonna dive deeper into that into this episode, so stay tuned. And it's kind of like maybe all of us, maybe a lot of us, should be hopping on this bandwagon, and Sumisura is a brand that is ultimately helping us be able to jump on that bandwagon, if that even makes sense. Anyways, because I'm partnering with them, I went through the whole entire process from making the garment, setting up my measurements, all of that stuff, all the way to getting the items and trying them on. So we're gonna go over all the details. Okay, I'm gonna spill the means so let's go. When you go to their website, you're basically given several options. You can create suits, shirts, blazers, skirts, etc. I wanted to make a top in pants kind of more like a professional vibe because your girl is going to a business school in a couple months. Oh my gosh. I literally went to the It wasn't an orientation. It was almost like a mixer, basically meeting people that may or may not be in your class in a couple months. I went to that a few days ago, and like I was pleasantly surprised people that were not rude. Anyways, that's not the point of this, okay. So I wanted to go for something a little bit more on the professional side, so something that I can wear two conferences, something that I can wear to panels, panel discussions that they would have at school, or even just wear to class. You know. So overall the process was very detailed. I was able to choose the fabric, which was kind of like this linen cotton blend. It was meant to be very airy, so basically good air circulation going on, but also pretty structured. And of course I chose the shirt to be a long sleeve shirt. Because I wanted to make sure that, Okay, if this is something for the tall girlies, it should be able to reach our wrists and so forth. So I wanted to try that out, and your normal standard classic collar rounded buttons. I chose two rounded buttons on the sleeve cuff. I think it's called the cuff because you know you can't have to too many buttons with a standard fastening. I honestly wanted to keep mine simple. But you could choose to add breast pockets, you could choose to add shoulder straps and so much more. And I opted for an intense brown color because we love intensity. If you're listening to the audio version of this, please watch the video version so you can actually see all the details, all the process I went through on the website, Like I'm literally showing you what I did on the website, so you know exactly how everything goes down. And then I chose to add a little monogram of my initials i LD because we need to know that the shirt is mine, period. So I opted for less of a straight fit, more of like a fit that gives me shape because I'm built like a rectangle. I'm not gonna lie to y'all look like SpongeBob aka you have a wide, boxy torso in skinny little lens. Anyways, So that's basically the shirt that I designed on the website, and then moving onto the pants, I chose to create a pair of genes. There were several fits that I could choose from from slim fit to flare to high waisted to boyfriend to shaping to wide leg. I decided to go with the wide leg fit, and then you can also choose the length, classic or ankle. Of course, we did not choose ankle. We want something that is actually long enough. I'm not going to embarrass myself out here, but hey, if you like ankle fits, to each their own. No Tino shade, It's just not for me, so classic it was. I opted for a clean finishing, so pretty much keeping everything as a uniform color in black. I chose business denim because we're business students period, and then I got the Sumi Sero up branding on the back. So that was done. So now after doing the design, it was time to make a body profile. So essentially on the website, you create your own body profile that has all of your measurements so you can input your height. So for me, I put five to ten. They didn't have halfs, and I'm like more of five ten and a half. But like I, I didn't go up to five eleven, which maybe I should but also doesn't really matter. We'll get into that in a sect. But I aimed for five ten. You don't need to know how much I weigh, but I put my weight and I put my aid. After that, I was able to choose the body type that I had, so I was able to put information about my busts, my abdomen, and my hips, and then their algorithm essentially calculates your measurements for you. Now, these measurements are pretty intense, okay. They got your neck, your shoulder, with your chest, everything all laid out to like the first decimal point. Okay, So from there you're able to say, yes, like these are my measurements, or you can change the measurements if you feel like they're a little off, because yeah, I mean, it's great that they have several years of algorithm training going on to be able to predict your measurements. But you know, we all have very very unique body types, and I have more of an athletic build. I guess you can say. So even though I put in all of my information and so forth, there are some areas, like within my body that are not going to be the standard or what they thought, if that makes sense. Like everybody's body is unique from the other person's, is what I'm trying to say. So they can't like physically see you, so it's not like they could take everything into consideration. So I did have to make some modifications. I made changes to like my shoulder with and my chest and so forth. I probably should have made some changes to my thigh measurements, but we'll get into that in a set. Something that I think is really cool is that with each measurement, when you go to change it, they have a video that shows you how to measure that specific area. And I think it's so so important to watch those videos. Okay, watch those videos before you measure that area and make the change, because it's going to show you what exactly they are looking for. So, for example, when I went to go look at leg length, I believe they didn't mean enseem, which is basically like the bottom of your crotch all the way down to your ankles. Like when they said like they meant the whole leg, like from your hip or waist I don't recall, but the entire leg, not just how endzem is measured. So make sure you watch those videos. And I think that it's really good that they actually included that so that we are all on the same page. So yeah, after you do that and you confirm all of your measurements, you can basically go ahead and place the order. Now, something to note is that, ay, it takes a while. It takes like a couple of weeks to make so make sure you allocate leave enough time, budget enough time for that. But it's also a bit on the price to eer side. So my order I feel like was around two hundred and forty five dollars, so that's something that you also have to budget for. But it makes sense because you're paying for the clothing and you're paying for their time because they're making it unique to your body. So that's just something to note. Make sure you budget time and make sure you budget the money for it. Now, yes, it did take a few weeks to get here, but nonetheless it did get here and the unboxing experience is pretty chill. I got a little Sumi su er bag that's so cute. I'm gonna try to see if I can include it in the video version. I did try on the clothing pieces and that's when it got interesting. So starting off with the top. The top was literally exactly how I designed it on the site, egged exactly how I designed on the site. It was so cool, The color exactly how it was on the site, intense brown. I feel like it definitely complimented my skin tone. And it had all of the detailings that I asked for, the collar, the buttons, everything. It did have the two buttons on the cuff, and yes, I was able to unbutton and re button it. We love that because some brands, some places actually don't let you unbutton certain things, like it looks like there's buttons there, like they have buttons there, but they just don't let you n button it, and it's like why would you do that? Anyways, But it did have everything that I designed on the site. The material itself was very like structured, but also light and airy because we love air circulation. Something I will say is that the brand Sumisua does let you touch or try the fabrics before you purchase or create it, which is something that is very good for people with sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin that's like sensitive to like the materials that you wear or whatever, make sure you take advantage of that. I don't have sensitive skin, so I was like, it doesn't matter to me, but if you have sense to the skin, take advantage of that. The fit was really good. It gave me some type of shape for my rectangular body and so forth. And I bet you're wondering about the sleeves, the long sleeves. Yes, it reached my wrist and it was perfect. It was literally it ended exactly where my wrist ended. It was a bit scary. I'm not gonna lie like you see like if you're watching the video version that this sleeve goes like past my wrist, Like no, like that didn't happen. It ended exactly where my wrist ended. It was perfect, perfect, and it's something that I could definitely and like a business type setting, for business school or just in a very professional type of setting. So overall, I was very very happy with the shirt. And also in the package, it came with instructions on how to wash and how to hang it up and so forth, so there's like no creases or anything like I know that in the video is gonna have creases because I literally took it right from the packaging and tried it on. But keep those directions and make sure you follow them. So overall, the shirt was perfect, perfect length, perfect sleeve length, everything like, it wasn't too tight around the shoulders, material was structured exactly how it appeared on the website. Definitely definitely like ten out of ten. What's awesome? Now for the jeens. The genes itself, okay, it was good. It was really good. The as for the length, because I'm pretty sure you're wondering about the length, it ended literally exactly where my ankles ended, like how the sleeves ended where they were supposed to. The genes literally ended where they were supposed to too, And I was like, wow, this is actually scarily accurate for sure. And I know I said that I did get a wide leg fit for the jeans. They came in as more of a flare, and that's where I said earlier in the episode that I probably should have adjusted the thigh measurement. But is it crazy that I'm kind of glad that I didn't because I kind of preferred that more flair look because what I did was I paired it with some boots, healed boots, because we love heels, we love extra height. I paired it with some like black healed boots and it looked pretty fire. I was like, wait, the vision. I see the vision now. So but yeah, definitely something to think about. As I said before, make sure you verify all of your measurements, because if you wanted a wide leg fit then you would have had to adjust it. And but for me, I honestly liked the style of how those jeens looked on me with the boots. So hey. So yes, the material itself was definitely good quality and it was good. It was airy, and they had some stretch to it, which is something that is just very important for me. Now, the thing is the waste area itself. It had like if you look at the video version, it will makes sense. It had like a little gap in it. It was like a little awkward gap. I really don't know how to explain it, but the waste was just a bit too wide, whereas everything else was like fitted where it need to be fitted. It's something that yes, could be covered with a top or something, but if you're wearing something that's going to be tucked in or so forth, it may be a little awkward. So I did reach out to them, and they do have the perfect fit guarantee, where basically they ensure a perfect fit or they remake the entire thing. They have you go to one of their partner tailors so that they can fix it free of charge, or you could go to your own tail and you send them an invoice and they'll reimburse you. So what you do is, when you fill out a ticket on their website, you basically discuss what the problem is and based on that problem, they give you the solution. When I filled it out, they said that I could go to either one of their partner tailors or I can go to my own tailor and then send them the invoice within like thirty days I believe, and then they reimbursed me. So I tried to go actually to one of their partner tailors yesterday. One of the partner tailors that I wanted to go to was closed and the other one was like sick, even though on the website it said that they were open. So we're going to try again. But it was a pretty seamless easy process to get that down. So I think that that's a really cool feature that they have. What did you think about the garments that I designed and tried on in this episode? What did you think? Did you like them? Did you think that they were cool? Did you think the whole entire process was cool? Of course, let me know in the comments. I'd love to hear anything that you guys have to say about it.
