I Went To The NYC Tall Size Pop-Up Shop Event and Here's How It Went…

[00:01:12] As you may or may not know I went to the tall size pop-up shop event this past weekend

[00:01:17] Oh my gosh, what an experience if you don't know tall size. Oh my gosh, what is wrong with you?

[00:01:23] I'm, just kidding. I'm just kidding

[00:01:24] But tall size is essentially an online marketplace that's home to several tall brands

[00:01:29] Okay, i'm talking karai

[00:01:31] Whitney allison prissy duck above the crowd just to name a few

[00:01:36] And because they're online marketplace, you know, there's no physical place to go on and try these clothes

[00:01:41] So they thought it would be a good idea to do a tour in the us and canada, I believe

[00:01:45] And basically just showcase the brands though

[00:01:49] The brands basically send them samples of their products or send them their products. I think I don't know

[00:01:53] I'm, not really good with these terms

[00:01:54] They basically send them some of their products for people to actually physically try on at these pop-up shop events

[00:02:00] And they were in new york city this past weekend. So, you know

[00:02:04] I had to be there

[00:02:05] Unfortunately, I was not able to attend one of the days they had two events one was a vip night

[00:02:12] On friday, but I wasn't able to do that because I had to

[00:02:15] Do other I had to attend to other personal things

[00:02:18] Um, but I definitely made it on saturday and it was such an amazing experience

[00:02:24] I'm kind of sad too because I said I was going to be there at 11. Tell me why I got there literally an hour and a half later

[00:02:30] Okay, but the mta was mtaing. It was just the trains were acting up so

[00:02:34] I at least don't beat myself up as much because the train was just acting a fool

[00:02:40] Anyways, wasn't able to attend on friday

[00:02:42] But there are definitely plenty of pictures and videos over on social media if you look them up

[00:02:47] But I was able to attend on saturday

[00:02:49] So that is a majority of what we're going to be talking about today, but it all started on thursday

[00:02:55] Actually the thursday before the two events happened

[00:02:58] So I saw a story post on tall sizes instagram account and I was like, hey, like we need volunteers in new york city

[00:03:05] Like does anybody want to volunteer or something along those lines? So, you know, I swiped up and was like, hey

[00:03:12] Sign me up

[00:03:13] And it was super cool. They responded, um the times that I would be able to volunteer

[00:03:18] So because I couldn't do friday. I just did thursday night for a few hours

[00:03:23] So I helped out thursday in the evening and that was my first ever time meeting kayla one half of tall size

[00:03:30] I remember being on the train freaking out a little bit because you know, it's like these are people

[00:03:35] That you see online you interact with them online on social media

[00:03:39] so

[00:03:40] Yeah, you see them on your phone but meeting them in real life like

[00:03:44] That could be a tiny bit scary, but I mean I heard so many good things about her

[00:03:49] I believe it was karina who told me that kayla was super nice and i'm gonna have a blast meeting her and stuff

[00:03:55] So I at least kind of went in with that in my head

[00:04:00] And you know karina was right when I first met her. She was super nice

[00:04:03] Like we gave each other a hug said hi did our little like introductions and such and we basically got right to work

[00:04:10] So the event was at the franklin showroom, I believe and the space was super cute

[00:04:15] It was kind of like a office ish area. They had like an office area in the back corner

[00:04:20] But most of it was open floor. So it was kind of like something that

[00:04:25] You it was like an area that you could set up for events and stuff

[00:04:29] A lot of it was open floor for things to be set up and when I got there kayla literally had like five

[00:04:36] Structures of the changing rooms set up so how the changing rooms basically worked was there was like a little

[00:04:42] Structure thing and then they had curtains if you're watching the video version of this

[00:04:47] You could probably understand what i'm saying. I hope I took videos of it, but i'll probably use hers too honestly

[00:04:52] In um in the episode, but they had structures and then the curtains basically go over those structures

[00:04:58] She set up like five of those by herself. I was like

[00:05:03] How because when I was sitting there and when we were working together

[00:05:06] On one I was struggling because they had numbers on it. So we had to connect the numbers to each other

[00:05:12] So if one part had a 16 you had to find another part that had a 16 on it and connect those two

[00:05:17] And I was like the math wasn't mapping for me for some reason at that time

[00:05:23] But you know what? It's okay

[00:05:25] We got it done

[00:05:26] But honestly kudos to her for setting those up and honestly just setting up

[00:05:29] A lot of the things that were at the event because it was a lot

[00:05:34] So I definitely want to applaud her for that at some point in time

[00:05:38] She ended up facetiming nicole. So I was able to say hi to nicole too though. Super super nice

[00:05:44] I heard her baby in the background, of course

[00:05:46] Congratulations again to you nicole if you're listening to this

[00:05:49] And you know, it was at least nice to speak to her live and say hi

[00:05:54] And then you know, we got back to work and when I tell you this was some heavy duty stuff like

[00:06:00] It was heavy duty stuff like setting up clothing racks building

[00:06:06] First of all, we were bob the builder for like the first third of it

[00:06:09] We were building those changing rooms and then we were building those clothing racks

[00:06:13] um

[00:06:14] I'm making it seem like we're building stuff from scratch

[00:06:17] Like it's like a construction site where you put like cement and bricks together, but it's not

[00:06:21] Really necessarily like that. It was just stuff like pieces to connect to each other, but still it was so much

[00:06:28] so we were

[00:06:29] Building the changing rooms. We were building the clothing racks

[00:06:33] We were opening boxes hanging up clothes

[00:06:37] Moving things around to make the area like how we kind of wanted it to be

[00:06:42] So for the first third we were basically bob the builder then the second third

[00:06:45] It was almost as if we were working at a retail store because we were hanging up a lot of clothes on hangers and on the clothing

[00:06:51] Racks and then the third third the third third the third third

[00:06:56] We were basically interior designers and I honestly think that we were really good interior designers because the we

[00:07:03] got the layout down in

[00:07:05] Not a lot of time and it looks really nice. Nonetheless, we got the job done. Okay. There was a really good workout

[00:07:12] Let me tell you I was sore for a while. I'm still a tiny bit store to this day

[00:07:18] Let's just say that I did not go to the gym the next day because that just wasn't that was not gonna happen for me

[00:07:25] But overall it was really nice spending time with Kayla and just learning a lot about her her passions and aspirations

[00:07:31] After she retires from playing basketball

[00:07:34] Honestly her experience in her journey becoming a professional basketball player and all of her travels and stuff

[00:07:41] It was really a pleasure helping her out and honestly getting to know her and after a while I did have to leave and I felt kind of bad

[00:07:48] Chloe who um

[00:07:50] Was helping them like planning the event?

[00:07:53] She was supposed to be coming in to help out Kayla with the rest. So thank goodness

[00:07:57] So I felt a little less bad. So yeah, that's kind of what I did to help set up for the event

[00:08:01] And then saturday came around. Oh my gosh. The day was beautiful. The weather was beautiful

[00:08:07] It was a nice sunny kind of like a late summer early fall type weather

[00:08:12] And when I went outside into that sunshine, I knew it was gonna be a good day

[00:08:16] And like I said before I was running a little bit late a little bit late

[00:08:20] It was a whole hour a whole hour and a half

[00:08:22] But nonetheless I made it and it was super cool

[00:08:25] And when I walked in the first person I saw was whitney from whitney allison. Oh my gosh

[00:08:31] It was so nice to give her a hug. She was a previous guest by the way

[00:08:34] Um, it was so nice to meet her. We took some photos of the photo booths

[00:08:38] So I definitely want to include those here super nice and i'm just so sad that she had to leave like shortly after that

[00:08:44] But i'm just glad that I had the opportunity to meet her

[00:08:47] I met so many people that I follow on instagram like brie who was a previous guest on this episode and solange

[00:08:55] I know them both from instagram, but they also live in new york city

[00:08:59] And brie is not too far from me and i'm like how is this the first time that we're actually meeting?

[00:09:05] How is this the first time that we're actually meeting?

[00:09:08] But you know, it was a blast just being able to talk to them and stuff like that

[00:09:13] They were honestly so amazing like we were talking about our experiences as a tall girl in life in general

[00:09:20] and one thing that definitely stood out to me was

[00:09:23] When we were all talking about when the creepy people start asking you for pictures on instagram

[00:09:29] If you're a tall girl, i'm pretty sure you've gotten one or two of those messages

[00:09:32] So they gave some advice to me

[00:09:35] And honestly, i'm gonna pass along this advice to you guys as well

[00:09:39] This came from brie and solange if they ask you for photos

[00:09:43] You charge them

[00:09:45] five thousand dollars per photo

[00:09:49] And I remember brie saying if they leave you alone after that because it's too expensive

[00:09:53] That's good because they leave you alone

[00:09:55] But you know

[00:09:57] If they do say okay, i'll give you the money

[00:09:59] Hey, you have the opportunity to make some extra cash

[00:10:03] So if you want to do it, you could do it

[00:10:07] And i'm like that is why have I never thought about that?

[00:10:10] So next time just in case that happens i'm going to put that advice to you

[00:10:14] But honestly, it's so hilarious meeting them and I honestly hope that we all keep in touch and we can meet up more in the future

[00:10:21] And it was cool because some people there actually knew me

[00:10:24] Especially some of the people who are representing some of the brands

[00:10:28] And they knew me as the girl with the podcast

[00:10:32] Which I mean

[00:10:34] I mean I get it a hundred percent

[00:10:36] You know, I do work hard to make sure that I appear on everybody's feed almost every single day

[00:10:42] But yeah, it was so nice to meet them officially in person too

[00:10:46] And yeah, let's talk about the brands

[00:10:49] Okay, I honestly made it a mission to try

[00:10:52] At least one thing from each brand because even if I didn't purchase it

[00:10:57] I wanted to at least display it on social media and going back through the footage. I'm not gonna lie

[00:11:02] I think I potentially missed a brand

[00:11:05] And I feel kind of bad about that

[00:11:07] So if because i'm literally gonna list out all of the things that I tried on and i'm gonna include the videos on the video version

[00:11:15] And i'm gonna have the links in the description

[00:11:33] There were bathing suits there. There were pants there. We had blazers jumpsuits

[00:11:38] Like everything under the sun

[00:11:40] So there was definitely much variety there and it was just so much to choose from

[00:11:45] It was hard to pick just one

[00:11:47] But I knew that I would not be able to interact with anyone if I tried out on every single piece in that place

[00:11:53] So I tried my best to pick the ones that I thought would look decent on me

[00:11:57] That would look good on me and I did videotape it so I can show you guys and you know what?

[00:12:02] I'm actually gonna list out every single thing. Yes

[00:12:06] I kept track. I kept track. I'm gonna list out every single thing that I tried on and I apologize in advance if I got the name wrong

[00:12:14] But I feel like I double triple check

[00:13:13] Amalfi two-piece cohort set from paris style

[00:13:17] The fall winter capsule blazer from whitney allison

[00:13:23] The linen shirt dress from above the crowd

[00:13:28] Good things come in tall packages t-shirt by tall realities. I see what they did there

[00:13:35] The tony one-piece swimsuit from wavelength swimwear

[00:13:41] The tulum it's either tulum or tulum. I don't know for sure one piece from andy swim

[00:13:49] The tall high-waist flare dress pants from alloy apparel

[00:13:56] And the double button pants from prissy duck

[00:14:00] I hope I said all of these correctly and I hope that all of the product names are correct as well

[00:14:05] Like I said before make sure you let me know they're incorrect and I will definitely correct myself because I don't I don't mind doing that

[00:14:18] Honestly, all of the pieces were such good quality

[00:14:21] Nothing was flimsy

[00:14:23] Nothing felt cheap

[00:14:25] Everything felt like it was made with care

[00:14:31] And all of them were obviously if the material was meant to be light and airy then yes

[00:14:36] It was light and airy

[00:14:37] But even so there was like thick good quality materials used and you can tell that a lot of time and effort was definitely put into them

[00:14:45] so

[00:14:46] Yes, like these were actually good pieces not no cheap fast fashion type things that come from other places

[00:14:54] Like this was this was the real deal. This was good stuff

[00:14:57] And i'm gonna say a lot of those pairs of pants were mad long

[00:15:02] Well, then again, they did have inseams that were like 37 and like 38 or something or 39 along those lines and i'm like a 36 ish

[00:15:10] so

[00:15:11] Obviously they were dragging on the floor, but I honestly didn't mind and let me tell you

[00:15:17] I was definitely humbled at the doll size event y'all know me

[00:15:21] I do rave about being tall, but I was one of the shortest ones there and I absolutely loved it

[00:15:27] Oh my gosh, it's so weird to say that

[00:15:29] Most of the people there were probably like six foot and up and I was here for it

[00:15:33] It was honestly so amazing

[00:15:34] It felt so nice for once in my life to actually look up at people when I was talking I was like wow

[00:15:39] This is the longest i've ever looked up to a person literally

[00:15:44] To actually talk to them and i'm so here for it

[00:15:48] And I met a couple brand owners as well. I think yeah, I mentioned earlier that I met whitney allison

[00:15:54] Um, I did meet paris from paris style. I also met stephanie from prissy duck

[00:15:59] I'm telling y'all I met the tall celebrities there

[00:16:03] literal talk like celebrities in the tall girl community and honestly, it was so amazing to meet all of them

[00:16:10] Um, i'm gonna i'm doing like little vloggy vlogs over on social media

[00:16:15] So definitely check those out and i'm sure you guys are probably wondering about the business cards and stickers

[00:16:20] I will say that they were definitely a big hit shout out to kayla for

[00:16:25] Offering to put some of the business cards in the goodie bags on the vip night on friday

[00:16:30] So when she gave out the goodie bags to the guests

[00:16:32] They could get the cards and stuff and on the next day

[00:16:37] Some people actually like knew who I was because of

[00:16:42] The business cards that they saw in the goodie bags from the night before

[00:16:45] So shout out to you number one kayla for doing that because that was honestly so nice and so amazing of you

[00:16:53] And also shout out to the people who recognize me

[00:16:56] basically from

[00:16:57] The business cards in the goodie bags y'all are lit and i'm not gonna lie

[00:17:01] I was very nervous going up to random

[00:17:03] People and telling them about my podcast and stuff like that because the whole point of this was to put myself out there

[00:17:10] Um, but all of them were just so nice and so welcoming and it was just so

[00:17:16] Amazing being able to meet new people meet new tall women and they were just honestly so nice and so welcoming about it

[00:17:22] And I feel like they all have like genuine interest in it

[00:18:05] Honestly, it was so amazing and so heartwarming that this occurred like it was so much better than I expected

[00:18:13] I literally walked out with three stickers

[00:18:16] I was supposed to save eight or nine for some of my friends. I'm only down to three

[00:18:23] so yeah, there's that and

[00:18:25] My business cards are halfway done. So I will consider that a success in my eyes

[00:18:30] But honestly 15 million out of 10 experience

[00:18:33] There's just something about being in a room full of other tall women as a tall woman

[00:18:38] it's so inspiring and so uplifting and

[00:18:41] Everybody just understands each other and you just feel so safe and so seen and so welcome

[00:18:47] And honestly, that's exactly how I felt at the tall size event. So yeah, shout out to chloe
