The Tallest Teacher in my Middle School Challenged Me To A Volleyball Game | I Got Hit In The Face | Tall Girl Storytime

We are back with another storytime! Thanks to a fellow follower on Pinterest, so shoutout to her! Like I said I really want to start incorporating more storytimes into my podcast so I’m super excited for this one. So let’s get into this storytime! 

This story took place when I was in the 8th grade. There was a tradition at my school where the entire 8th grade class would play a volleyball match against the teachers of the school. Weird, I know right? But it was some type of send off thing before we went to high school. We would prepare for this game probably 2 months prior. The gym teacher would have us do drills and scrimmages during gym class. 

The day of the match eventually came and the 8th grade class was pretty confident. Honestly, they were a little too confident because think about it. We practiced for 8 weeks, 40 minutes a week, but these teachers have been doing this for years. How would we possibly do well against them? But whatever, it’s not about the size of the dog but about the size of the fight right? If that even makes sense lol. 

So, the 8th graders are playing against the teachers and the tallest teacher in the school (for the sake of this story we’ll call her Ms. F) was absolutely DOMINATING US. Homegirl was 6’5”. Yeah she was pretty up there. Meanwhile, I was the tallest girl in the 8th grade and I was like 5’7 ish, so you can imagine how big she looked compared to us. But I was doing pretty okay in the game (thanks to my long limbs of course). 

The end of the game came around and we lost. Terribly. Like 16-3. It was embarrassing. The 8th graders were super sad LOL. BUT Ms. F was feeling a little competitive that day because she proceeded to say “Do you guys want a chance to redeem yourselves? How about a rematch?” I was like oh gosh PLEASE nobody say anything I just want to go to the cafeteria and get my tater tots. But, of course, you always have THOSE KIDS in the class. And they were like “Yeah, rematch!” So Ms. F proceeds to say something like “One on one match. Who am I going against?” And EVERYONE STARTS SAYING MY NAME! 

Of course they would, I’m the tallest one there. Are we surprised?? All of the students and teachers were looking at me, so I just couldn’t say no. So, I agreed. What’s the worst that could happen?
