Ep 6: The Problem With Shopping As A Tall Girl

The Problem With Shopping As A Tall Girl

tall girl, tall girl, shopping, tall girl clothes, tall girl problems

Hi! You’re back! And if you’re new here, welcome. I’m India and I’m tall. How tall? 5’10” (5 feet and 10 inches). If you go in order of my episodes, I don’t think I’ve mentioned that in a while. Hence why this website and my podcast has “A Tall Girl” in it. Isn’t that insane?

Anyways, I want to briefly talk about why shopping as a tall girl. It’s a struggle. It can be a problem. It remains a hassle. There’s no doubt about it. It’s nothing new. When was the last time you ever had a conversation with a tall girl, and she HASN’T brought up something about clothes being too short? I feel like the complaints never stop, and I just want to explain WHY they haven’t yet. Today, you’re going to take a walk in my shoes (if you can fit my shoe size haha).

So if you haven't listened to my first two episodes of my podcast, I suggest you do so now, they’re super short (about 4 minutes each) because they explain what it was like attempting to shop when I was younger and Just how HORRENDOUS the experience was.

This episode just stems from an experience that I went through the other day. After SOOOOOO many years, I heard a comment about how I dressed that I absolutely hate. One of my friends said I dress like a grandma. A GRANDMA. Ok, I can understand that if I was shopping at JCPenney still. But, I’ve found other places. I literally only go there for Levi’s jeans. And Levi’s is ALWAYS TRENDY. So why was I hearing this?

A few days before that, I hung out with my friends and I wore a midi dress. For those who don’t know, a midi dress is a dress that is in between a mini and a maxi dress. They’re about calf length. The mini dresses can be a little short for our liking and I think that dresses that are on the longer side are MEANT for us tall gals. I wasn’t even aware that midi dresses were not cute. Because last time I checked, all you pinterest girls are wearing those types of dresses to this day. Now, this friend was on the shorter side, of course, so I do not expect her to understand any of this just by telling her. So why not show her?

How did I do that you may ask? We went to the mall. And our first stop was Windsor. We were looking for a dress for a dinner that we were going to. Once we walked in, I could look through the store and just KNOW that none of the items would fit me. But I let her grab stuff off the racks. When she was done, I had about 20 items to try on. Guess what? We walked out with NONE. Why? You guessed it! Honestly, you’re so smart that I don’t even need to say it. We vibe at the same wavelength, so I’ll just tell you to listen to my podcast episode for the full deets.
