Tall Girl Chats: Your Height Doesn't Define You, But How You Treat Yourself Does

And we’re back with another chit-chat! Well, more like a read and maybe comment later? Who knows…but today I want to have just a little talk. It’s kind of like a story time mixed with a commentary mixed with a rant, but I assure there will be something positive that comes out of this :)

So, I want to just discuss a little what it means to be defined by something. I feel like we see all of these posts on social media that are like “your weight doesn’t define you” or “society doesn’t define you” or even what I posted “your height doesn’t define you” (by the way, shameless plug you should totally follow me @atallgirlspodcast on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest). But I never really sat down and thought about what it means to be defined by a physical attribute, especially your height. Take a second and think about that to yourself…

Nothing really comes to mind, right? Well, I found out the (part of) answer to that question REAL QUICK with what I’m about to tell you. 

This week I had a couple interviews for some gig work, and if you didn’t know, I have an interest in social media marketing and I’ve been taking on small projects. Usually, I’m interviewed before I get an offer. And, of course, in my cover letters and resume, I have this podcast listed. What can I say? It’s a huge part of my life now! 

So, in these interviews, they ask about my experiences, and this podcast usually comes up. Normal, right? Not when they start inquiring about my height! Isn’t that a personal question? Like you don’t ask someone their age, or weight, or salary in an interview, so why ask about height? I mean, I guess because of my podcast, it’s a no-brainer to ask, but it felt really weird.
