Ep. 23: "You're Pretty...For A Tall Girl" | Height Shaming and Social Media

“You're Pretty...For A Tall Girl” | Height Shaming and Social Media

height shaming, social media, toxic social media, toxic shaming

Hi there! I hope you’re having a spectacular day! But, if you read the title, you’re about to read a not-so-spectacular topic. Well, I shouldn’t really say that because it’s really important to talk about these topics to really spread awareness about it AND help tall women start to love themselves and STOP LISTENING to the FAKE media. Anyways, shall we begin?

So, I saw this video on Tik Tok (it really seems like a lot of the episodes are starting to be based off of things I see on Tik Tok aHa) and it really had me thinking about people who say “You’re pretty for a tall girl”. I should probably explain this video first. It was some trend where this girl had the words “You’re pretty…” on the screen and she did this gesture that indicates that she was happy or she liked where I guess whatever conversation she was having was going.

Then the rest of the sentence finished and it said “...for a tall girl.” And then, she pointed to the door which I assume indicates to leave and literally never come back. I’m so sorry; I really tried my best to explain it. BUT the point is that someone told her she was pretty for a tall girl and she was NOT having it. And honestly, I wouldn’t have any of it either.

And stuff like this doesn’t make sense to me. It’s 2021! At the time I’m writing this, it’s literally just a few weeks away from 2022! Why are we still making women of different shapes and sizes feel bad about themselves. And I’m telling you, it’s the shallow people that will say, “Oh, it’s a complement…” No. It’s not. That’s like telling me that the tall woman population is ugly and I HAPPENED to get lucky in my genetics that I have some type of feature or features that cancel out my height and SOMEHOW make me appealing to you. That’s sickening.

But why do people think of tall women and “not pretty” or “not feminine”? Why is this still a thing in 2021? Check out my full podcast episode below!

Thank you so much for tuning in, I really appreciate it and really appreciate you. Be sure to follow me on my socials @atallgirlspodcast on Pinterest, Tik Tok, and Instagram for daily tall girl content. Hit me up; let me know what you think of this episode. And I’ll see you in the next one!
