Long time no see! Or is it “long time no read”? Honestly, I can go with both. I might just stick with the first one actually. I’m currently writing this during my economics class, so I am listening to supply and demand while typing about body positivity. Isn’t that an awesome combo? I don’t recommend doing this at all. PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS FOLKS. 

Anyways, so, today I will be talking about how to not care about what others think of you. At first, I wanted to make this height-related in some way. But I figured I should make it more generic because this should be a mindset for ALL people, not just us tall folks. For the most part, we shouldn’t feel the need to live on other people’s terms because it’s OUR LIFE not theirs! Whatever decisions are made affect us for THE REST OF OUR LIVES. 

Sadly, this can be easier said than done. I believe that one major reason why we care so much what others think is because these people are extremely close to us. This can be a parent, a sibling, a partner, or even a friend and we want to feel accepted and loved by them. So yes, naturally we are going to care what they think because of that relationship. It’s normal. It’s HUMAN. But we can’t let those people take advantage of the bond that was created. Because that relationship can become SO toxic. 

Today, I wanted to share a few ways to stop caring what other people think of you. First, I want to provide a quick disclaimer that this doesn’t mean that you should completely cut off all emotions and stop caring what others think of you. This is just to help you stop caring to an extent where it becomes unhealthy for your self-development and mental health. Another disclaimer: this takes time. You won’t wake up one morning and automatically feel different. Everything is a process. Everything takes time. 

The first number super important step is focusing on yourself. I know, I know. You've probably heard this several times, but I want to add another perspective to this. I find that when first hearing this, I think of prioritizing your mental health, practicing self care, getting to know yourself better, etc. Don’t get me wrong, doing these things are phenomenal! You should prioritize your mental health and self care. 

In this, I also wanted to include not holding yourself back based on what you think other people will think. This means opening up that shop that you think other people won’t approve of, wearing that dress that you think other people will find ugly, starting that YouTube channel that you don’t want those people to find. Heck, I started a podcast that I thought people wouldn’t listen to but here you are! Pursuing goals that you once had fear of pursuing is SO liberating.
