Y’all it was hurricaning last night. Like HURRICANING. Okay not an actual hurricane; I may or may not be exaggerating, but it was raining cats, dogs, pigs, and bears. It was probably at like 3 a.m. when I woke up to a long episode of thunder and lightning. And the worst part was, I had my window, which is right next to my bed, open and I was kinda scared that a bunch of water was going to soak my windowsill. And silly me, I was too lazy to get up to close it and this morning I woke up to a soaking wet windowsill. How fun :)
Anywho, today we’re talking about thoughtless comments on our height. Notice how I put the word ‘thoughtless’ before ‘comments’ in the title of this episode. Because people don’t like to think. Especially before they speak. That doesn’t necessarily include you. Or me. We’re different. We’re smart LOL. I’m just saying that there are people out there who will make comments about your height or your body without even thinking about how it can affect you.
Prime example – something that happened a few weeks ago. I already shared this on my Instagram, and if you don’t follow me on there I’m sure that you don’t know this (btw you needa follow me on there wyd), about my friend’s friend. My friend and I were on our way to a concert and she saw one of her other friends walking down the street. So we stopped so that they could catch up. I didn’t really mind or care; I was just down for the vibe. Then, the friend stopped talking to her, looked at me, and was like “Oh my gosh, you’re huge!”
I was a little taken aback because I’m thinking to myself “girl, what???” Not that I was offended or anything, but that is really gonna be the first thing you say to me??? Like I don’t even know you. She then asked me to stand next to her so she could compare heights, only for her to find out that she was indeed shorter than me. Like what??? Only after that, she asked for my name. LOVE THAT.
This incident just took me back to the days when people would say stuff like that to me, but on a daily basis. And it ruined my self-esteem. If you’re struggling with this too, tune in to the full episode below for tips on how to keep your cool when people make thoughtless comments about your height!
