Also, feel free to leave me review and let me know how tall you are. I'm genuinely curious. Everything is going to be linked in the description Happy May. Officially, y'all, summer is inching closer and closer to us. I'm actually very excited. We actually had our first eighty degree day in April. It was this past week. By the time this episode is up, we had our first eighty degree day in April. So I get a feeling that this summer is going to be a little bit intense, a little bit humid, very much hot, and I'm here for it. And by the time this episode is of spring break will have officially come to a close. The feeling is a little bit bittersweet, a little bit sad, because you know, I was really enjoying this break. I was really enjoying having this time off and not having to commute to school, not really having to worry about being on time for class and all that other stuff. But then also really nice because it's like, Okay, I'm just ready to finish out this semester and graduate and get that diploma. Okay, it's the last month undergrad let's make account and let's graduate. I just know it's gonna be a little bit difficult because I'm gonna have that feeling, you know, like fomo. I'm gonna get major fomo because the weather is super nice. The done is staying out for longer, and you know, when it's nice outside, like do you also find it very hard to work and concentrate and you know, lock in because I do struggle with that, and some people are like, yeah, work outside. The second I step outside, it's a wrap. Nothing is getting done. I'm going to be sitting down in the grass somewhere enjoying the sunlight. All right, Enough of that. Today we are talking about clothing, which is a very popular topic in the tall community. Is probably one of the biggest struggles that tall people, especially tall women face, because you know, many brands often make clothing more so for people that are of the average height, and the average height of anybody kind of varies from country to country, but overall, the average height is five to three five four ish, so you know, being five nine five ten six one six four, Yeah, it's it's pretty bad out there. You know. Most of these pieces, especially the trendy pieces. I will say, most of these pieces are very much short. The slee lengths are too short. The short length is too short. The pants length is too short, a lot of it is too short, and not to mention with varying body proportions, these clothes also fit awkwardly. So I really wanted to do this episode, especially after my experiences with shopping for graduation dresses. If you didn't know, on my social media, I said that I was going to start looking for dresses for graduation. Yes, dresses multiple I have three different graduations. I wanted to show some of the struggles, some of the problems that I was having with trying to find the perfect graduation dress. And I was like, I don't know if it's appropriate to show y'all because those dresses were not going past the booty, like they were that short, way too short for my liking. So I kind of figured, ooh, like other people are probably gonna be struggling with this, so I wanted to provide some tips. However, I am not a fashion person by all means. If you know me very well, I'm just I'm not into it. I'm not a fashionista, and you know that's okay. It's just not my thing. So I figured why not ask qualified people to give y'all some tips? Okay, because I want these tips to be good and I know mine, we're just not gonna cut it. And I'm pretty sure you've scoured the internet trying to find good tips. However, it's best if these tips come from actual tall women who have the same struggles as us, and they have a lot of under their bells. They have a lot of tips that they can share with us, because if you're tall, you understand the struggle of finding clothes that actually fit. So this week I ask some tall fashion influencers for their number one fashion tip and here's what they had to say. So Euafit, which is an active where brand for tall women, said men's hoodies are longer sleeved, particularly Nike hoodies. Question to this, tall ladies, how do we feel about wearing men's clothing? Because it's pretty common for us to hear that we should try shopping in the men's section. How do we feel about it? Do we do it? Should we do it? Like? What's the vibe on that? And to be completely honest with you, guys, I am no stranger to the men's section. Okay, just as the owner from eurof It said, for tops, for long sleeves, of course, for hoodies, I like my sizes pretty big, and you know, being I'm not saying being a big girl, being a tall girl. I'm gonna say that being a tall girl myself. Oftentimes, when you try to get like a larger extra large in a women's size, they tend to not fit the way I want. Sometimes I really just want a very very big, like very oversized fit. And because I'm taller, and because I have somewhat of a build, I guess you could say the large and the extra larger like trying to size up in the women's section just doesn't always work for me. So sometimes I like to go for a medium or large in a men's section and that works out fine. However, the pants are a different story. Interesting thing. I had a guest on here a while ago. Her name is Karina I hope I pronounced her name correctly, and she explained that men's clothing may not always be the best option, particularly pants. This is because men hit puberty later in their lives than we do, so their spines keep growing and their torsos tend to be longer, and their legs may be on the shorter side or shorter than ours, depending of course, so that is something to keep in mind Julia Bidulia one sick. I hope I said that correctly, said buy big pants like for excels, so they're long enough, and use a cute shoelace belt. I remember this trend. This is very interesting. I've seen a lot of women especially this is a thing in thrifting. That's what it was. You know how they have like these really good quality genes for a lower price when you're threfting, and you know, some people give that up and it's like, oh my gosh, Like you have these wranglers, these Levi's or whatever the case is, and they're still in good condition, and yeah, I want to buy it, but the problem is it could be too big for you. So there was this trend of people, especially on TikTok, using shoelaces as a belt. They either put it in the front or they would like tie up tied up in the back, if you if you remember that trying with now. And I thought it was very interesting. I thought it was a very smart thing to do. I feel like it could work. But my thing with that is is like is it like, how does it work when you have to use the bathroom and you have to take it off and reapply it is it tedious to work with? Also, does it stay up long enough? Or what if you don't have an extra shoelace. And then on top of that, something to think about is buying a bigger size. I can definitely understand buying a bigger size because it's bag year so if it's lower, so it gives the impression that it's longer. Sometimes it's not always the best for different body types or certain body types, but if it works for you, it works for you. You do you. So if that's what you like, if that's what you feel confident, you should definitely do it. Tory, who is six foot of bay on Instagram, responded as well, Oh my gosh, I absolutely love her. She actually gave two tips. Get an amazing tailor and don't be afraid to invest in great pieces. The second tip definitely hits especially from small tall businesses. Tall clothing can be higher in price, and rightfully so, because more fabric, more time, and these small tall businesses need to be able to cover their costs and pay themselves. Hashtag support small tall businesses. But there's also a lot of sustainability I'm noticing around many of these small tall businesses. They're really getting into slow fashion, minimalism and that capsule wardrobe. I actually have a guess we'll have two special guests coming up this month, but I also have a guest in particular who's trying to focus on sustainability and slow fashion in the tall girl community, in the tall fashion community. So definitely excited to go deeper into that with her. But even though these pieces are higher in price, they will last you so much longer, and that takes so much stress off of your shoulders of trying to find ways to replace the clothing that is lower in quality. Because you know, tall person is already hard to find these pieces and now you're telling me how to replace them every season. That's actually insane. So investing in pieces that will last you a very long time and fit your body really well is a smart tip. And yes, get a tailor, find somebody who you trust, number one, and who is good at what they do. They can make the pieces longer, they can tailor accustomed to you, of course, and that also is very helpful in ensuring that you find the right fit. You can find these in a lot of places. I mean they have them online, but you could even go to your local laundrymat. A lot of laundromats have people who do sewing, who do tailoring, so even going to your local laundrymat, you can probably find a tailor for a decent price. Alison, who is raised rogue on Instagram says, look for trousers or denim with a thick hemp that you can let out for extra inches. This is a great tip. I have definitely heard other tall women on social media talk about this low key can you get more tall fashioned? Di wise, like, can I actually see y'all putting these into action? This would be a great project to do at home. And I personally don't think this tip gets enough credit. Isabelle underscore leone. I think Underscore twenty three says long skirts or dresses become MITI okay, I think that this makes sense, Like I think she's talking about with the maxie skirts for example, that's also a trend that I have seen on TikTok before maxie skirts being worn like pulled up over the chest to be worn as a dress. That it depends on the fit of the skirt. I feel like, because you know, you may want the dress, the skirt the dress to give you some type of shape. I mean, but then you could also add a belt to it, or they have like those things on Amazon that help you like synch stuff in when you put on the inside, or as Tory said, you could get a tailor as well, or you could do a DIY yourself. So I mean, that's a good two way type of thing. Like, you know, the longer skirts can be worn as a midi dress, or the longer skirts can act like a midi skirt, but then I know that that could be awkward depending on the length. And the same thing with the maxi dresses, as she was most likely saying that maxi dresses can also act as midi dresses, and you had another home project for you to do if you wanted to fit a certain way, or you can also take it to a tailor. So I think that that's smart wearing different things in more than one way. And then we have two people who said the same tip. Lucky A Tall Life on Instagram and Kelly I'm six foot eight on Instagram said basically to make your own clothing. That's kind of coincides with the whole DIY thing, and girl, that is scary, but you know what My mom said the same thing because I was trying to find jumpsuits for prom but I was complaining that the jumpsuits were not long enough. So she was like, just make your own jumpsuit. So, if you have it in you, if you have the talent, because I most certainly don't have the talent or the qualifications for that. If you have the talent, if you have the qualifications to do it, just do it and start your own brand with it too. Start making clothes for yourself and you can model it and this and that and the other, and then boom, you could start selling it for other tall women and there you go. You got your own business. So if you have the talent to do it, if you can do it, if you believe that you can do it, definitely make your own clothes because custom fit is the best fit. And this is the last one. This is from Heather who is tall. Mom finds on Instagram and she says, own it. It's going to take a while for the industry to catch up and make tall size of stuff that you So for now, where what you're comfortable in and embrace your height. You know this is so true. It's taken the fashion industry so long for it to be as inclusive as it is today, and it's still not enough. And you know, we don't have time to whine and sit and complain about it. That's why so many courageous tall women out there have created their own tall brands. Where it feels right for you, where it feels comfortable, and where what makes you feel confident, because after all, confidence is the best outfit that you could wear. I'm going to end the episode here. Thank you so so much for tuning in. I really appreciate it, and I appreciate you as always. Feel free to hand me up on my socials and you can let me know if you found these tips useful, if you have any more tips, if you want me to do a part two, let me know. Hit me up, let me know what the vibe is, and I hope you have a good rest of your day, week, month, year, life, whatever it is for you, and I'll catch you in the next one. Good Night and goodbye,
